Churches naturally grow old. Each year everyone ages another year. Those leading a church continue to lead and the rut continues. It used to be that when the old people died, the next generation would finally get their chance to lead. But young people today aren't going to wait 40+ years to make a difference. They want to be the church of today. If that isn't permitted or promoted, they simply quit.
There is another option. Churches can actually "Grow Young." How? By intentionally changing the culture of a church gradually. Drawing on the work of the Fuller Youth Institute, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America has tapped into this reasearch, trained and certified "Growing Young Adventists" presenters, and has started the long-term process that includes all age groups in a congregation rather than just the older ones.
